2018 TASH Conference has ended
Each year, the TASH Conference brings together a diverse community of stakeholders who gain information, learn about resources, and connect with others across the country to strengthen the disability field. This year’s conference theme, “Be Creative - Innovative Solutions for an Inclusive Life,” reminds us to think outside the box during times of uncertainty. Creativity, innovation, and determination can pave the way for meaningful and inclusive lives for people with disabilities.

Rebecca (Becca) Allely began Becca's Alpacas, her microenterprise, seven years ago. She raises alpacas, and uses their fleece to make products and yarn. As her business grew, she added high-quality, commercially spun yarn which she dyes, to her product line. Indie dyed yarn is in high demand.
This February, Becca opened her storefront. In this space she sells her products, as well as prepares the fleece for making into yarn, and felting. This involves cleaning, tumbling, and carding the fiber. She also spins yarn on her electric spinner, knits with a knitting loom, and makes felted art. Her two roommates, who also own microenterprises, also market and sell their items in the commercial space.

In 2018, Rebecca attended Alaska's Key Campaign, as one of many advocates for disabilities who visit the Legislature each year to communicate the needs of individuals with disabilities. As an ambassador from her community, she visited several Legislators, and also met with the Lt. Governor to share her success story. Subsequently, she was asked to join the board of the Key Coalition, organizers of this annual event.
