2018 TASH Conference has ended
Each year, the TASH Conference brings together a diverse community of stakeholders who gain information, learn about resources, and connect with others across the country to strengthen the disability field. This year’s conference theme, “Be Creative - Innovative Solutions for an Inclusive Life,” reminds us to think outside the box during times of uncertainty. Creativity, innovation, and determination can pave the way for meaningful and inclusive lives for people with disabilities.

Over the past several years, it’s been a roller-coaster with respect to various federal policies and their implications for supporting federally-funded home and community-based services generally and competitive integrated employment specifically. This presentation will attempt to provide a status of key federal initiatives (including but not limited to implementation of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act as well as the federal HCBS Settings Rule) and an environmental landscape on what is on the horizon with respect to federal policies and actions related to the provision of HCBS and implications for local and state efforts to promote CIE, independent living, and full community participation of individuals with disabilities. A discussion of the intersectionality among disability, social determinants of health and equity will also be explored to better understand the underlying factors that are influencing state and federal policy-making.
