2018 TASH Conference has ended
Each year, the TASH Conference brings together a diverse community of stakeholders who gain information, learn about resources, and connect with others across the country to strengthen the disability field. This year’s conference theme, “Be Creative - Innovative Solutions for an Inclusive Life,” reminds us to think outside the box during times of uncertainty. Creativity, innovation, and determination can pave the way for meaningful and inclusive lives for people with disabilities.

This session will present intervention research that has been conducted with students with disabilities at the elementary, middle, and high school level. Seven multiple baseline studies have been conducted with participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional Behavioral Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome. A review of the research over the last decade, a two-phase intervention procedure (SMILE), and research results will be presented. Additionally, one research study evaluated the efficacy of individualized social skills lessons within a multicomponent intervention. Attendees will leave with tangible resources to assist in future implementation of the intervention; and will be able to discuss specific benefits of peer-mediated social skills interventions for students with disabilities and how to implement the intervention with sensitivity for mediators and participants.
