2018 TASH Conference has ended
Each year, the TASH Conference brings together a diverse community of stakeholders who gain information, learn about resources, and connect with others across the country to strengthen the disability field. This year’s conference theme, “Be Creative - Innovative Solutions for an Inclusive Life,” reminds us to think outside the box during times of uncertainty. Creativity, innovation, and determination can pave the way for meaningful and inclusive lives for people with disabilities.

In the Company of Others
Kalamazoo, Michigan Area
In the Company of Others understands and promotes the power of relationships within organizations and the larger community in support of social justice issues.
We strengthen the effectiveness of social justice work in organizations, teams and individuals using a framework that encompasses mindfulness, kindness, a Culture of Gentleness and the honouring each persons’ gifts and capacities.
Our primary focus is to foster the development of organizational and personal skills that promote growth and change. We employ customized curriculum that is easily accessible and results in strong teams with authentic person-centered practices and planning.

Sheldon Schwitek has been supporting individuals with complex behavioural needs in the United States and in Canada for almost 3 decades. He was introduced to the founding members of the Marsha Forest Center in 1990 and became a facilitator of the person-centered processes of MAPS, PATH and Circles of Support through Inclusion Press. For almost 10 years, he worked closely with Judith Snow, a pioneer in developing circles of support and helping to identify ways that others could discover their gifts and make contributions to their communities. He continues to hold these initial values of inclusion in all aspects of his life.
During the last decade, Sheldon’s work has been associated with The Center for Positive Living Supports in Michigan. The focus of The Center’s work on the importance of relationships and creating Cultures of Gentleness were a perfect fit for how Sheldon approached the issues surrounding those who are most at risk of being excluded.
Sheldon’s wish is to bring his broad experience to bear in helping organizations and teams provide the best individualized supports to those who are the most broken hearted. He believes that with intentional support, anyone can thrive in community.
